Here is a more detailed description of the healing practice of Reiki, excerpted from the Worldwide Health Website:-

Reiki is a Japanese word meaning cosmic or universal lifeforce, and is the name given to a system of natural healing which evolved from the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui, a professor of theology who lived in the 19th century. Today Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters who have been trained in the traditions passed down from master to student.

There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive or learn to give a Reiki treatment. The only prerequisite is the desire to be healed, and for physical, mental, spiritual and emotional wellbeing.

A Reiki treatment can be given anywhere without the need to remove clothing, as Reiki is said to pass through anything, maybe even plaster casts.

To receive treatment the recipient simply lies on a couch and relaxes. If unable to lie down, the treatment can be given in a sitting position. The main thing is for the recipient to be as comfortable as possible.

Reiki flows to the areas of need, soothing pain and supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It is possible to heal at any level of being: physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.
Reiki natural healing may be used to energise you when you feel drained and calm you when you feel afraid.

It can help you:

Reduce high blood pressure
Relieve asthma
Relieve pain
Accelerate healing of wounds, injuries and infections
Help prevent development of disease and much more.

Acute injuries can be helped to heal very quickly, but more chronic illness takes longer. Whatever your need, you should feel very relaxed after a treatment.

Reiki supports all forms of treatment both orthodox and complementary.

Healing is a process of restoring harmony and promoting emotional growth. If there is a longstanding imbalance it may take many sessions to obtain lasting relief from symptoms, since many changes may have to take place before the cause is reached.

Give yourself a great gift – learn Reiki for your own self healing, or for treating other people or animals.
